It will take place at Vital Arts Gallery, 423 Grand Avenue. Free and open to the public. Information: City Museum, 454-1401, ext. 283. May 19th -- 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM LAND: Resource, Right, Refuge Roberto Mondragon will host a discussion on land use in the region. Other panel members are former state historian Robert Torrez and Miguel Santistevan, New Mexico Acequia Association youth project director. Mr. Torrez will talk on Voices from the Past: The Land and Its People. Miguel Santistevan will speak about his experience working with Taos-area young people on land-based activities. Discussion is encouraged. May 20th -- 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM LAND: Resource, Right, Refuge A day of fun for families and children. Local performers will create a mountain man, curandera and rancher whose livelihoods depend on a close relationship with the environment. Following the performances, children’s activities include seed planting and an interactive “water wagon” from the local Future Farmers of America where participants see the effects of water on the land by building land formations and running water over them. Diana Sherman of the NMHU anthropology department will guide children in creating pictographs based on a taking on a role as a Native American of 800 years ago.
